The Ministers are ALL of the people of the Church, assisted by...

Ordained Minister - The Rev. Dr. R. Douglas Throop

The Rev. Dr. Douglas Throop became the ordained minister of Port Hope United Church in November of 2012. Doug has an enthusiasm for worship that deepens our relationship with God and our living out of this faith in social justice.

In addition to having worked in rural, suburban, inner city, university campus and First Nations communities, Doug has served congregations in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec. He holds a doctorate from Princeton Theological Seminary and an MA from McGill University.

Having studied art history and being a painter himself, Doug finds the arts a fruitful area for theological interaction and the deepening of our faith experience.

Director of Music - Jason Jestadt  B.A., M.Mus.

Jason joined us in August, 2010. Jason is an accomplished composer and musician. more...

Prior to beginning his role as Music Director here, Jason served as Music Director at Pathways Church in Unionville (a mission church of the United Church of Canada), and previously, at Birchcliffe Bluffs United Church in Scarborough.

Jason lives in Toronto with his wife and two young children, where, in addition to the music ministry he nurtures at Port Hope United Church, he leads an active life as a freelance musician, composer, and music director.

Church Administrator - Caroline Everson

Caroline has been our administrator since 2008. She has lived and worked in Port Hope for most of her life, and has a home here with her husband and the last one of their three children to leave the nest. In addition to being employed at the church, Caroline works as a freelance writer.

Custodian - Lorne Cardoza

If you visit our church, you will probably meet Lorne! In addition to all the work he does around the building, Lorne is an active member of our choir as well as the Worship and Property Committees.
