Continuing to Learn
Bible Study
Under the leadership of Rev. Kevin Moore people gather to learn more from the Bible. In 2023/24 participants engaged in a year long study of the New Testament using Marcus Borg’s Evolution of the Word, The New Testament in the Order the Books Were Written.
Book Study
Lynn Liddell and Bruce Williamson led a group of 8 to discuss Wholehearted Faith by Rachel Held Evans and Jeff Chu. Such discussions lead to examining our own faith journeys. The facilitators would welcome suggestions.
Church School
At present there is not a regular church school but an adult is prepared each Sunday to take children who may be in attendance for a special time of music and crafts on a Christian theme.
Community Information Sessions
The Christian Development Committee offers information sessions to our Community of Faith as well as members of our local community. We provide speakers that can share important information on a variety of topics of interest to the community. Sessions have included:
- History of Port Hope
- Wills, Estates and Financial Planning
- Funeral Planning
- Northumberland Gardeners
- Fostering Pets to Help women in Crisis
- Tour of Ed’s House Hospice
- Eating Healthy on a Budget
- Northumberland Helping Hands
- St.John’s Therapy Dogs
- Northumberland Dragon Boat Club
- St. John’s ambulance – Fall Prevention
Sessions run from 60-90 minutes in the church sanctuary and include a question and answer period.
